This site contains artifacts from a family collection of Civil War letters and other paraphernalia saved from the volatile era during the latter half of the 1860s. The letters and photographs tell the tale of a family of brothers who went off in arms to serve the Southern cause while a mother and sisters remained behind to tend to the family farm. The unusual aspect of this collection is that it not only contains letters mailed home from the boys serving mostly in the 3rd Alabama, but several letters mailed from home were saved, brought back home, and saved for posterity. They are now presented here for first time publicly accessible.
